The Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility has seen a heightened number of COVID-19 cases among inmates and jail staff. According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, as of Wednesday, 166 inmates and four staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. The Mt. Pleasant facility currently has the highest number of current positive cases among inmates compared to other facilities in the state. In total, over 12,000 tests have been conducted across all correctional facilities and 838 inmates have recovered. Data is being collected and updated on a daily basis on the Iowa Department of Corrections website. In total, Henry County has had 682 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, with four deaths, and 255 people have recovered.
