Homecoming week is meant for celebrating and plenty of celebrating was had last night at Case Field in a 68-20 rout of Fairfield by the Washington football team to stay perfect on the season.

As heard on KCII, seven first half touchdowns put this game to bed early and it all started with Jacob Miller showing off big play ability with a 55-yard house call on a punt return and then the ensuing drive the junior had a 35-yard pick six. Homecoming King Trashaun Willis established his power over the Trojan defense, as he was responsible for the next four scores with three on the ground and one where he avoided a fumble and sack to fire a 32-yard strike to Kasen Bailey in the endzone. Lucas Kroll put the finishing touches on a dominant first half with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Demons led 55-0 at the break and they were successful on all six two-point conversion tries out of the swinging gate. Plenty of players saw action in the final two quarters with Wilx Witthoft and John Prochaska finishing off the scoring with rushing plays of one and 21 yards. Fairfield scored all three times in the final four minutes of the game, but the white flag was waving long before. Willis recorded 141 yards rushing on six carries with three touchdowns and one more through the air. Ethan Patterson carried the rock four times for 72 yards. The Demon defense did their thing with negative 37 rushing yards allowed and Olin Wells led the way with five tackles.

Head Coach James Harris tells KCII Sports there was plenty of success to go around. “I am so proud of our kids and our community is proud of our kids. They have put in a ton of work to perform like this. I am ecstatic for these guys and my coaching staff that is the best in the state of Iowa.”

Washington improves to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the district. They return to Case Field on Friday when they host Burlington for senior night.
