The first fall color report for the season has been released by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. In southeast Iowa, some leaves are starting to show yellow in black walnut, silver maple, elm, and cottonwood trees. Also, dogwood, wild plum, and poison ivy are starting to show some purple and reds. The peak viewing time for fall colors in the trees in southeast Iowa is projected to be October 15-22.
