Swinging a club will be exchanged for running this evening at the Washington Golf and Country Club, as the Demon cross country teams hosts a meet with other area schools participating.
This is the first of two home meets this year for Washington, as they also host conference on October 15th. Lance Sobaski has been on a roll for the Demon boys claiming the last two individual meet titles including at Mount Pleasant last week.
Washington Head Coach Stefanie Haworth tells KCII Sports the team always gets excited for this one. “They love that course. It is tough and all hills, but we have the confidence to run hills stronger than other teams. They have some great goals for this one with the Southeast Conference running and a few other small schools.”
Area schools in Highland, Lone Tree, and Sigourney will also be running today.
The first race gets started at 4:30 p.m. today at Washington Golf and Country Club.
