Iowa had 353 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with 96 in intensive care and 39 people on ventilators according to the Iowa Department of Public Health on Monday. Statewide approximately 3,100 inpatient beds are available, which equals 39.21% of the total inpatient beds in Iowa. Iowa saw a high of 417 people hospitalized in early May, it then dropped down to 119 by the end of June and has since been climbing. In Region 5, which includes southeast Iowa, as of Monday, there were 453 inpatient beds available, or 23.18%.

Overall, Iowa has had 86,918 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 1,317 deaths, and 66,220 people have recovered for a recovery rate of 76.2%. The state had an increase of 2,240 cases and 11 deaths over the weekend. There’s been an increase in cases in Washington County this month with more than 100 new cases. Overall, Washington County has had 467 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 11 deaths, and 351 have recovered, for a recovery rate of 75.2%.

The IDPH encourages people to wash their hands frequently with soap and water, maintain social distance with people outside of your household, and when that isn’t possible wear a face covering in public.
