The black flame candle will be lit during the special Halloween edition of Movies on Main in October. Also, a full slate of activities will be held in the park leading up to the movie on October 16th. Main Street Washington is partnering with Washington County Public Health and the I-Smile Dental Home Initiative to present Hocus Pocus. The PG-rated comedy was released in 1993 and is set in Salem, Massachusetts. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
Washington Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Alisha Davis says the YMCA and Chamber of Commerce will take part in the festivities, “And we’re going to be doing some activities in the park with the Y: a pumpkin giveaway and decorating contest, a costume contest. We’re going to be doing a free meal before the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. So, the activities will be from 6-7:30 p.m. before that movie.”
After the CDC released guidelines for Halloween safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, these alternative activities were planned instead of the traditional Trick-or-Treat Around the Square. People are encouraged to wear costumes, keep six feet of social distance during the activities and movie, and face masks are recommended.
