
The Winfield-Mt. Union football team is looking to go 4-2 this week with their game against the English Valleys Bears.
The Wolves have started off the season 3-2 with a loss last week against the New London Tigers 38-0. They really couldn’t get the air game going, completing just two of eight passes for 36 yards. The run game was successful having 183 yards as a team with 89 of them coming from Cam Buffington. Buffington also led the defense with eight tackles. English Valleys has started off the year strong with a record of 4-1 and coming off of a big win against Twin Cedars with the final score being 70-40. The Tigers went three for six through the air with 108 yards while picking up 478 rushing on 33 carries. Beau Flander led the rush game with 178 rushing yards on only four carries. Flander also led the defense with five tackles.
The Wolves are looking for their second win against the Tigers since 2007. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. tomorrow night in Winfield.
