Move over Crusaders, you have company. The loaded Southeast Iowa Super Conference South division has a new volleyball team atop of the standings and they reside in Wayland. Thursday night was a special one for #14 WACO, as they downed #3 Holy Trinity in a heart stopping five sets.

The Warriors upended the conference tourney champs with set scores of 18-25, 25-22, 25-17, 23-25, and 15-11. Head Coach Jay Coble tells KCII Sports what changed after the first set. “We went into the team room and changed the depth of our serve reception. Once we were able to get Morgan, Molly, Lona, and Ellie the ball offensively the game really changed for us. We had great fan support from the students and the parents. It was surreal to see everyone at the gym and when we had that last point, it was a pretty great feeling.”

Morgan Graber was straight money all night for the offense and finished with 22 kills while Grace Coble had seven. Coble tallied 38 assists, Aubri Garnsey garnered 27 digs to Molly McLaughlin’s 20, and Ellah Kissell was a force with six blocks.

The Warriors move to 21-2 overall and the only team without a loss in the division sitting at 5-0. They have another big bout on Tuesday against New London.
