Jefferson County Kids, Inc. has been awarded two grants for their new child care center. The grants include a five-year, $250,000 Greater Jefferson County Foundation grant and a $25,000 grant from the Community 1st Credit Union Foundation. These grants bring the total capital investments to $3 million of the $3.5 million needed to fund the project. Jefferson County Kids President Bryan Hunger says it’s imperative that the organization raises the remaining $500,000 by the end of 2020 in order to begin construction and open the center by summer 2021. The new 14,000 square-foot child care center will boast 188 new child care spaces and will be located west of the Jefferson County Health Center.
