Redemption was the theme all week long for the Sigourney-Keota football team. Last year, Mediapolis upended them in the final week of the regular season to claim the district crown and the loss kept the Cobras out of the playoffs. Fast forward to Friday with the district title on the line again, S-K would not let history repeat itself and they returned the favor with a 31-14 home victory.
The game was close for awhile with the score tied at 7-7 after one and the Cobras holding a slight 14-7 lead at the break. Scoring twice in the third quarter allowed for some separation and Head Coach Jared Jensen tells KCII Sports what the difference was in that period. “Defensively we just kept pressure on them and guys were flying around making plays. Our defense set up our offense really well and we found a way to grind out two more scores to seal the game.”
Sam Sieren was a beast with 26 carries for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Cade Molyneux also reached pay dirt twice and completed six of eight passes for 85 yards. Colton Clarahan had a crucial 39-yard field goal in the third and made all four PATs. Brady Duwa did a little bit of everything with three receptions for 56 yards, had an interception, and recovered a fumble. Wyatt Sieren and Jack Clarahan led the defense with five tackles apiece.
The Cobras stay perfect by moving to 6-0 and they wrap up the regular season Friday at Cardinal (3-2).
