Playing under the Friday Night Lights was exchanged for Saturday afternoon football for Lone Tree this week. It didn’t matter the day of the week, the Lions would not be stopped. They had a trip to Moravia over the weekend and made it a successful one with a 52-14 victory.
The two-hour drive did not equal a sluggish start, as the Lions tallied four first quarter touchdowns, led 36-0 at the break, and kept pouring it on in the second half. Scoring four touchdowns last week, Alex Viner had an encore performance reaching pay dirt five times on Saturday. The senior carried the rock 16 times for 197 yards to lead an offense with 250 total. Cade Shield rushed for 35 yards and two scores. Cade Patterson recorded an interception and Mathew Hemsted managed 10.5 tackles. The Lion defense held the Mohawks (0-6) to 37 rushing yards on 29 carries.
Lone Tree improves to 3-2 and they close out the regular season Friday at Montezuma (6-0).
