Three KCII area schools competed at Saturday’s New London volleyball tournament. The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves put together the best day, finishing with an overall record of 2-1. The Wolves were swept by West Burlington 21-17 and 21-15, before rebounding to beat Mid-Prairie 21-12 and 21-12 and Highland 21-11 and 21-16. For the day, the Wolves were led by Jenna Buffington with 27 kills. Keely Malone had 29 assists and Keetyn Townsley led the Wolves defense with 20 digs. WMU is now 18-6 overall.
Mid-Prairie was 1-2 on the day. Along with the loss to Winfield-Mt. Union, the Hawks were swept by New London 21-9 and 21-11 before beating Van Buren 14-21, 21-15 and 17-15. Mid-Prairie was led on the day by Amber Swart with 21 digs, Mya Miller with 12 assists and Karsen Jehle with seven kills. Mid-Prairie stands at 6-9 on the season.
Highland went 0-3 at New London Saturday. Along with their loss to the Wolves, the Huskies were swept by West Burlington 21-8 and 21-7 and fell to Van Buren in three sets 20-22, 21-14 and 15-8. For the tournament, the Huskies were led by Mackinze Hora with 16 digs, Kayla Cerny with 14 kills and Mylei Smith with 12 assists. Highland is 3-13 on the season.
