The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team will celebrate their seniors tonight when they host the Columbus Wildcats in a Southeast Iowa Superconference match. Hillcrest comes into action with an overall record of 1-15, 0-6 in league play. Last time out, the Ravens were swept by Winfield-Mt. Union on Thursday. On the year, Hillcrest is led by Esther Hughes with 78 kills, seventh in the Superconference North Division. Yani Gutierrez leads the Ravens and is ninth in the north with 71 assists. Grace Miller leads the Hillcrest defense with 154 digs, sixth in the Superconference north.
Columbus comes into the match with an overall record of 8-12. The Wildcats are 1-4 in the Superconference this season. They got their first Superconference win of the year last time out when they swept the Highland Huskies on Thursday. For the year, Columbus is led by Olivia Carrier with 119 kills, fourth most in the Superconference north. Jobie Lekwa has 149 assists, sixth in the Superconference while Emma Milder leads the Wildcat defense, Superconference and is 10th in class 2A with 241 digs. These two teams met twice a season ago with Columbus sweeping both matches. The Ravens will honor seniors Malia Sedlacek, Sophie Marshall and Yani Gutierrez on the night. Action begins at 6p.m. at Hillcrest Academy.
