Hanging with the #2 ranked team in class A was a tall task for the Columbus Community football team on Friday and they had a hard time stopping a potent Regina offense in a 47-22 home loss.

The Regals hurried out to a 27-0 advantage after one and 41-0 at the break before the Wildcats reached the end zone in the second half. The Regals managed 507 yards of total offense including senior quarterback Ashton Cook completing 12 of 18 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns. The Wildcats ran for 186 yards led by Tucker Bright with 69 of them on seven carries. Will Schwab reached pay dirt twice and tallied 49 rushing yards on 14 carries. Jeff Hoback completed a pair of passes to Bright including one for a score from 27 yards out. Bright also led the defense with 8.5 tackles.

Wildcat Head Coach Dave Lekwa tells KCII Sports the run game was a silver lining for his team. “In the second half we were able to move the ball and I was happy with how we ran the ball. They have some big boys on their defensive line and they get to the ball quick, so it was nice to see we were still able to run the ball.”

The Wildcats drop to 2-4 and they close the regular season on Friday when they travel to face North Cedar (0-5).
