The WACO Warrior volleyball team hits the road for a key Superconference clash tonight when they visit the New London Tigers. The Warriors enter play with an overall record of 21-2, they are a perfect 5-0 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference south division. Last time out they got by No. 3 Holy Trinity Catholic in five sets. The Warriors are ranked No. 14 in class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the year, the Warriors are led by Morgan Graber with 223 kills, most in the Superconference and third most in 1A. Grace Coble is best in the Superconference and fourth in the state with 450 assists. Aubri Garnsey leads the Warriors, Superconference and is second in 1A with 285 digs.

New London comes into the match with an overall record of 13-6, the Tigers are 4-1 in the Superconference south. Last time out they went 2-1 at their home tournament Saturday with wins over Van Buren and Mid-Prairie with a loss to West Burlington. The Tigers are ranked No. 8 in class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the season, the Tigers are led by Keaura Williams with 151 kills, sixth most in the SEISC south. Aliyah Christensen has a team best 365 assists, fourth most in the south while Kyra Linkin leads the Tiger defense with 191 digs. This week, WACO head coach Jay Coble talked about the key to his team’s great play. “Serve reception has to stay tough that way we can run our offense, whether or not we have two or three hitters in the front row, we have to continue to be able to pass well enough to get those people the ball.”

These two teams met twice a season ago with both matches going to the Tigers. Action begins tonight at 7:30 at New London High School.
