Over 4,000 absentee ballots were mailed out on Monday in Washington County. Auditor Dan Widmer made the announcement at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. People can request a ballot be mailed to their home by submitting a completed request form to the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. October 24th. They can also vote early in person at the courthouse.
Chairman Jack Seward reminded local voters that due to COVID-19 there is a limit how many people can be in the courthouse at one time. Seward said a person is stationed at the main entrance and they will direct people into the building. He said there may be a wait if there’s increased traffic, “So, just please be patient, that’s all I can ask. Please be patient. But come on in. We will make sure that you are able to vote and we will make sure that your vote counts, that’s the biggest thing.”
Widmer added that if there is inclement weather, people can go to the front door and if there’s a line they can wait in their car. The person posted at the door will contact them when it is their turn to enter.
Remember when voting in-person to bring a valid form of identification. The auditor’s office is open for early voting from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the two Saturdays before election day – October 24th and 31st. It will also stay open until 5 p.m. on November 2. Polls will be open November 3rd from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
