A candidate forum will be held in Washington to help voters get to know who is running for office. The Washington Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Committee is hosting the forum Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. The event will be held in Central Park and attendees should bring a lawn chair. If there is inclement weather, the rain location is the UP Church with attendance limited to 50 people.
Candidates who are unopposed will introduce themselves and provide a brief statement. Contested races will answer prepared questions and questions from the community.
Contested races include Washington County Board of Supervisors with incumbent Republican Stan Stoops and Democratic challenger Lorraine Williams. At the state level there will be three races represented: House District 78 with incumbent Republican Jarad Klein and Democrat Kimberly Davis; House District 84 with incumbent Republican Joe Mitchel and Democrat Jeff Fager; and Senate District 42 with incumbent Democrat Rich Taylor and Republican Jeff Reichman.
