The Columbus Wildcat football team dropped their regular season finale on Friday to North Cedar on the road 44-26. The Wildcats were consistent all night on offense, finding the end zone once in each quarter. Columbus led 6-0 after one quarter and 12-8 at half. Columbus kept the lead at 18-14 going to the final frame where the Knights went crazy, putting up 30 points to score the come from behind win. Columbus posted 361 yards of total offense, all on the ground, led by Will Schwab’s 190 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries. Tucker Bright added 100 yards and a score on seven carries. Bright’s six and a half tackles led the Wildcat defense. Columbus turned the ball over three times. With the loss, the Wildcats end the regular season with a 2-5 overall record. They open the class A playoffs on Friday when they travel to Wapello to meet the Indians.
