Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman will play host to a portion of the River Valley Conference volleyball tournament Thursday night. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will welcome the Tipton Tigers and North Cedar Knights to Wellman for the fifth place south division segment of the tournament. The Golden Hawks come into the match with an overall record of 7-15, they are 2-6 in the River Valley Conference. Last time on the floor they swept Tipton in Wellman Tuesday. For the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Tori Boyse with 55 kills, Landry Pacha’s 216 assists are best on the team and fifth in the RVC. Defensively, Amber Swart has 148 digs.
North Cedar comes into the tournament with an overall record of 3-17. The Knights are 1-6 in the River Valley Conference. Last time out the Knights were beaten by Bellevue in five sets. For the year, North Cedar is led by Kelly Proesch with 104 kills, 10th most in the River Valley North. Averee Kasik leads the Knights and is ninth in the north with 158 assists while Jenna Syring paces the Knight’s defense with 119 digs. Mid-Prairie last battled the Knights a season ago, falling in four sets.
Tipton comes into Thursday with an overall record of 3-19. The Tigers are 1-7 in the River Valley Conference this season. They were swept by Mid-Prairie on Tuesday. For the season, the Tigers are led by Kelley Leiser with 120 kills, ninth most in the River Valley South, Liz Bierman has 171 assists, seventh in the RVC south to lead the Tigers and Carly Langenberg has 141 digs, most for Tipton. The Golden Hawks and Tigers met earlier this week with Mid-Prairie winning by sweep. Action will begin with Mid-Prairie meeting North Cedar first, followed by Tipton facing the Knights and the evening will end with Mid-Prairie taking on Tipton. Matches will get underway tonight at 5p.m. in Wellman.
