candidate-forum-2020

Local candidates introduced themselves to voters at the Washington Chamber of Commerce’s candidate forum. The forum will be rebroadcast on AM and FM KCII at 1 p.m. this Saturday (10/17). Contested races featured include Washington County Board of Supervisors with incumbent Republican Stan Stoops and Democratic challenge Lorraine Williams. State level races include State Representative District 78 with Republican incumbent Jarad Klein and Democrat Kimberly Davis, House District 84 with incumbent Republican Joe Mitchell and Democrat Jeff Fager, and Senate District 42 with incumbent Democrat Rich Taylor and challenger Republican Jeff Reichman.

Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer shared election information to kick off the forum, saying there are three ways to vote, “And that includes completing and returning an absentee ballot request, now that’s a request, to the auditor’s office. It can be mailed. It can be dropped off at the courthouse. It can be brought upstairs to the auditor’s office, but we need to have an original absentee ballot request, you cannot email one to us, that will not fit the bill. We need the original. And once we receive that, in turn then we will send the actual ballot itself to the voter. And the voter can fill that out and again return it by mail, by dropping it off in the drop box that’s on the west, right outside the west entrance of the courthouse, or you can bring it upstairs to the auditor’s office.”

The second option is to vote early in person at the county auditor’s office. The office is open for voting weekdays leading up to November 3rd, as well as the two Saturdays before the election from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 24th and 31st.

The third way is on Election Day with polls open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. To find your polling place click here.
