A juvenile has been charged for causing a small fire at the Fairfield High School building Wednesday morning. According to the Jefferson County Dispatch Center, at 9:40 a.m., emergency services were notified of smoke coming from inside the building. All students and staff were safely evacuated from the building. No injuries were reported. The fire was started in the top-floor bathroom and was extinguished before it spread further. The juvenile was charged with reckless use of a fire, a serious misdemeanor. The Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield Fire Department, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
