Harvest for some Iowa farmers is nearing completion and where early planting was possible cover crops are beginning to green up according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Iowa’s corn for grain harvest is over three weeks ahead of last year and two weeks ahead of average with 65% harvested. Also, the moisture content of field corn being harvested for grain fell to 16%. In southeast Iowa, 50% of corn for grain has been harvested.

Iowa’s soybean harvest is over two weeks ahead of average with only 10% left to be harvested across the state. In southeast Iowa, 79% of soybeans are out of the field.
