In their third meeting of the season including second in a week, the Highland volleyball team handled Lone Tree once again on Monday with a sweep in a first round class 1A regional match.

The home Huskies managed the playoff win with set scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-9. Head Coach Gina Trower tells KCII Sports what a playoff victory meant for this team. “It was great. Especially against a familiar team and to come away with another win is a big accomplishment. Watching our court culture change since I have been with this team the last two years is the best thing, win or loss. To see them come together and prove they know what they are doing is awesome and to win is the cherry on top.”

Lone Tree concludes the season 5-18 and they say goodbye to three seniors in Elizabeth Fuller, Josie Mullinix, and Skylar Smith. Highland improves to 7-16 and they advance to tonight’s quarterfinal bout at Holy Trinity. The Crusaders are 25-9 and finished in a tie for third in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division. This is the first meeting between these two schools since 2014 and all of the action begins at 7 p.m. in Fort Madison.
