Washington County has had over 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far this month. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski provided an update on the local data, “Thus far we’ve had 6,056 people in Washington County that have been tested and we have 611 cases. We’ve had an addition of 109 cases added since the beginning of October. We have 447 patients who have recovered.” Washington County remains at 11 deaths, with the last death reported in July.
On Tuesday, Iowa’s hospitalized patient figure climbed to 501 with 122 in intensive care units. In Region 5, the 17-county region that covers the KCII-listening area, as of Monday there were 99 hospitalized patients and 30 in intensive care with 10 people on ventilators. Statewide 38% of inpatient beds, or just over 3,000 are available with 398 ICU beds. In Region 5, nearly 21% of inpatient beds are available, or 411, with 74 ICU beds.
People are reminded to take steps to prevent the spread of the virus – wash your hands frequently with soap and water, wear a face mask in public, practice social distancing, and stay home when you’re ill.
