Sewer work is continuing through the end of October in the City of Wayland. This project is to fulfill a mandate by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to reduce infiltration. Work is done by using a municipal contractor pipe tool to finish sewer linings in several neighborhoods around town. When work is to be done in a certain neighborhood, homes will receive a notice on their door 24 hours in advance with specific instructions to follow. While work is being completed, residents will not be allowed to flush toilets or use showers. The city also warns that if there are illegal connections to your sewer line, such as sump pumps or footing tiles, this is a violation of city ordinance and poses a flooding risk during work. Any questions can be directed to Wayland City Hall.
