Abnormally dry conditions and moderate drought can be found in the KCII listening area. According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, the western halves of Washington and Johnson counties are abnormally dry. Also, most of Jefferson, Iowa, and Keokuk counties are abnormally dry. The southwest corner of Iowa County and the northwest corner of Keokuk County are in moderate drought. Statewide 4.5% is in extreme drought, almost 35% is in severe drought, 47.4% is in moderate drought, and 80.8% of Iowa is abnormally dry. That’s an increase from last week when 72.8% of Iowa was abnormally dry.
