The Iowa Association of Track Coaches has released their most recent poll and the Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams are again prominently featured. The Mid-Prairie girls are No. 1 in this week’s poll, as they have been eight of nine weeks. The Golden Hawks are coming off of a school record setting performance at last week’s state qualifier meet where they brought home the team championship to qualify for Fort Dodge, individual championship with Danielle Hostetler, and saw their entire lineup of seven runners place in the top 15. Six of Mid-Prairie’s runners are ranked in the top 30 in the class 2A individual poll. Danielle Hostetler is No. 1, Sydney Yoder No. 2, Jaden Yoder No. 3, Mitzi Evans No. 9, Abby Fleming No. 27 and Ana Fleming No. 30.
The Mid-Prairie boys check in this week at No. 6 in class 2A. The Golden Hawks were team runners-up at Williamsburg in the state qualifier meet last week, qualifying for the state meet in Fort Dodge as a team. At the meet the Hawks were led by Jamie Stutzman with his individual runner-up finish. The Golden Hawks have a pair of ranked runners in their lineup with Stutzman at No. 8 in 2A and Nathan Wallington at No. 26. The Mid-Prairie boys and girls will both be in action at the class 2A state meet at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Halloween.
