Washington County was gifted an ambulance by the City of Riverside. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved an agreement to transfer ownership of an ambulance from the City of Riverside to the county. The Washington County Ambulance Service that began on July 1st covers all of Washington County, providing emergency medical transportation for the public. The service has ambulance stations in both Washington and Kalona.
It was stated that the rig will need some maintenance. Supervisor Abe Miller asked about the $7,500 in repairs. Supervisor Richard Young said it would cost $250,000 to $300,000 for a brand-new ambulance. This truck will be added to the county fleet, providing another piece of equipment for the county service to use as they see fit.
