Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend and with that people are reminded to test their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Each year when the clocks change people are encouraged to test their alarms and change the batteries.
There have been 28 fire fatalities in Iowa so far this year and according to the State Fire Marshall four were in fires that had detectors that were present but not working and eight didn’t have smoke detectors present. Two of the fatalities where detectors weren’t working happened just south of Washington in May of this year.
