The Kalona City Council finalized two matters of business in October. Mayor Mark Robe and the council appointed Cooper Tonning to the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill a seat vacated by Luke Newton. Tonning will serve the rest of the term, scheduled to expire January 1st, 2024. Council also approved the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD work truck at the price of $32,718.90. A truck bedliner and snowblade will also be purchased for the vehicle that is not included in that price. The purchase will be made with Local Option Sales Tax Funds.
