The Winfield-Mt. Union football program was put back on the map in 2020 and a big reason for the success was a boost from a breakout player in Cam Buffington.
The freshman phenom made his mark in 8-Player District 4, finishing the season with the fourth most rushing yards in the league with 956 in just eight games and was fourth in rushing touchdowns with 17. Buffington was a Swiss Army knife for the Wolves also racking up a pair of receiving scores, pair of touchdown passes, and was second on the team in tackles with 51. To add to the number of duties, he also punted for the Wolves and recorded a 32-yard average.
The Wolves finished the fall with a 4-4 record, surpassing their win total from the previous four seasons combined.
