A section of 290th Street south of Washington will be closed starting Thursday. Crews will be replacing culverts on 290th Street between Coppock Road and Wayland Road. The project includes replacing two pipe culverts about half of a mile east of the Coppock Road. The contract for the work was awarded to Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington by the Washington County Board of Supervisors for $110,033.15. That was the lowest of three bids and the work had been estimated to cost about $160,000.

The section of 290th is expected to be closed from three to four weeks while work is underway. The Washington County Engineer’s Office states the project will address failing culverts and improve drainage in the area.
