Farmers across Iowa had 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork last week due to snow and rain along with cooler temperatures. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa’s corn harvest is three weeks ahead of last year and 13 days ahead of average with 87% out of the field. The moisture content of field corn being harvested for grain fell to 15%. In southeast Iowa, 76% of corn for grain has been harvested.
Statewide only three percent of the soybean crop is left to be harvested, three weeks ahead of last year and two weeks ahead of the five-year average. In southeast Iowa, 91% of soybeans have been harvested.
