Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a new proclamation for the ongoing public health emergency related to COVID-19. Starting Wednesday, any social, community, recreational, leisure, or sporting events with more than 25 people indoors or 100 people outdoors are now prohibited through November 30th, unless all participants over the age of two are wearing masks.
At youth and high school sports, only two spectators per youth athlete or participant will be permitted to attend. Masks will be required of spectators if it is indoors and there are more than 25 people in attendance.
Six feet of distance is required between groups at bars and restaurants. Groups are limited to eight people unless they are all from the same household. Masks are required at indoor service industries, including salons. She added that groups should be limited to eight people, unless they are all from the same household, at bowling alleys, arcades, indoor playgrounds, and children’s play centers.
Violations of these enhanced public health measures can result in simple misdemeanor charges.
Governor Reynolds clarified at her press conference Tuesday morning, saying all of these businesses can remain open. She says remote working options should also be strongly considered by employers.
The Governor also highly encourages all residents to postpone gatherings of any kind, especially with large groups, as the holidays approach. Stay tuned to KCII for more information as additional details are released by the Governor’s office and the Iowa Department of Public Health.
