At their most recent meeting, the Columbus Junction City council discussed the conclusion of their water meter replacement project. So far around 700 of the 800 water meters around the city have been replaced with new radio read models. Todd Salazar with Columbus Junction Public Works told the council that his department is on pace to have the project completed by the beginning of December. He also noted that readings being taken on the new meters show that the old meters were not accurately recording usage. Because of the accuracy of the new meters, several water leaks have been detected and repaired.
