A berth in a state championship game is on the line for the Sigourney-Keota football team tomorrow when the #3 ranked Cobras take on #1 OABCIG in a class 1A semifinal at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

The Cobras (10-0) qualified for their first dome appearance with an entertaining 35-32 win over Waterloo Columbus last week where the offense racked up 399 rushing yards. Sam Sieren leads the S-K offense with 1,475 rushing yards and a state leading 24 touchdowns. Cade Molyneux has compiled 1,107 yards of total offense and has been responsible for 16 touchdowns. The offense averages 310 rushing yards a night and the defense has held opponents to 12 points a game.

That defense will be challenged against the top-ranked Falcons (10-0) and their all state quarterback Cooper Dejean. The University of Iowa commit leads class 1A in all purpose yards with 4,058 and total touchdowns with 51. The senior has completed 61% of his throws for 2,718 yards and added another 1,089 on the ground to account for 81% of the offense. Cobra Head Coach Jared Jensen tells KCII Sports slowing him down is easier said than done. “He is an elusive kid and no one has been able to stop him. Our plan is to try and keep him contained. Keep him in a bubble and have numerous guys surrounding him. Our defensive backs will have to be able to make plays as well and force a turnover.” Like S-K, the Falcon defense has been equally stout throughout the year giving up just 12 points a contest. OABCIG won a program’s first state title in 2019 going undefeated in class 2A.

Listen to tomorrow’s action on AM and FM KCII starting at noon with kickoff from the UNI-Dome set for 12:30 p.m.
