While the overall footprint of dry conditions in Iowa remained at about 64%, the severity lessened from last week to this week. According to the National Weather Service 4.2% of Iowa is in extreme drought, and 19.1% of the state is in severe drought which is down from 31.5% the previous week. Currently 40% of Iowa is in moderate drought and just under 64% is abnormally dry. The driest conditions are in the northwest corner of the state. Corners of Iowa and Keokuk counties are abnormally dry, but otherwise the KCII-listening area is not experiencing drought conditions. At this time last year, Iowa had no drought conditions.
