The fall production from the Hillcrest Academy drama department could have unlimited people viewing the performance, but they won’t be in-person in the high school auditorium. With safety in mind for students and parents due to COVID-19 concerns, director Michael Swartzendruber says they will present a series of student monologues, “We thought this would be something that would further the program, that we would really work on developing acting abilities, working specifically one-on-one with students and whatever roles they want to take on, whatever interests them. And they all selected their monologues and came up with what they wanted to do and then I worked with them. So I feel like we made a lot of progress with the students as far as developing them as actors and giving them a little bit of something to have in their pocket for a future performance or an audition piece.” Student monologues will be present by Meredith Blossom, Ivana Ebersole, and Sarah Miller. Swartzendruber says each student rehearsed for over a month before putting their performances on video. The premiere of the monologues is set for this Friday night at 7 p.m. on the school’s website at hillcrestravens.org/drama.
