Iowa passed the 200,000 mark for confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Friday. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health as of Friday Iowa has had 203,931 cases, 2,133 deaths, and 114,309 people have recovered. As of Friday, Washington County has had 1,227 cases, 12 deaths, and 629 people have recovered for a local recovery rate of 51%. While Iowa saw a decline in hospitalizations to 1,447 people on Friday, the state had a new peak for people on ventilators at 144 people.
People are urged to take steps to prevent the spread of the virus: avoid large gatherings, wear a mask in public, social distance, wash hands frequently, and stay home when ill.
