Expectations for a strong 2020-21 season for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ basketball program continued to grow on Friday when they opened the new campaign with a 60-29 road win over New London.
Up 11-6 after one, the Wolves made their move in the second outscoring the Tigers 23-4 to take a commanding 34-10 lead at the break en route to the blowout. Eleven players found the back of the net led by Keely Malone off the bench with 10 points on five of nine shooting and also managed a pair of blocks. Kyndal Townsley chipped in with nine points, Farrah Nelson hauled in seven boards, Jami Wilkerson recorded four steals, and Jenna Buffington dished out three assists.
WMU starts up the season 1-0 and they get back on the court tomorrow hosting WACO.
