Households needing help to stay warm during this Iowa winter can apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, also called LIHEAP. The program helps families meet the cost of heating their homes by assisting with a portion of residential heating costs for eligible households. Typically the benefits come as a credit on your utility company’s heating bill. LIHEAP runs through April 30th. LIHEAP households also apply for the Weatherization Assistance Program that helps improve a home so it is more energy efficient. For application information click here.
