A holiday tradition has returned to downtown Washington and it serves as a way to remember loved ones who are no longer here. Hospice of Washington County has Christmas trees set up on display in the front windows of the Washington Public Library. Hospice of Washington County Executive Director Katrina Altenhofen welcomes people to join, “If you by chance have an ornament that you want placed on any of those trees in memory of a loved one, please bring them by the office. Put who the loved one is and then we’ll make sure that it gets put up on the tree.”
Often the ornaments represent something the person enjoyed – a tractor, a favorite character, wildlife, or favorite place. The trees can be seen from the sidewalk and will be on display through the holidays. Hospice of Washington County will keep the ornaments to be placed on next year’s trees.
