The winter season got started up for the Washington grapplers last night in a home meet and the Demons lost a pair of duals, but held their own in contested matches.
Washington fell to HLV by a 30-16 score, but the home squad won three of four contested matches. Robert Bennett took care of business at 160 lbs with a fall in 1:45, Ayden Frazer won by a 17-4 major decision at 170 lbs, and Jacob Hill pinned his opponent in 1:02 at 182 lbs. The Demons’ four forfeits gave HLV 24 points and that proved to be the difference in the team score.
Washington then fell to Iowa Valley 45-6 with one Demon winning out of four matches. Bennett made it a clean sweep on the night with another pin in 3:03.
The team starts up the season 0-2 and return to the mat Friday for the Cascade Duals.
