The final Iowa Crop Progress and Conditions Report of 2020 was released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service this week.

Scattered rain and snow showers only allowed Iowa farmers 4.6 suitable days of field work last week, with the southeast portion of the state receiving the most precipitation. Field activities included harvesting corn for grain, applying fertilizer and manure, and hauling grain to elevators. Only one percent of Iowa’s corn for grain crop remains to be harvested, over two weeks ahead of last year and one week ahead of the five-year average. Most of the scattered fields left to harvest are in the southern one-third of the state.
