Coming off of the program’s first 20-win season in six years, the Keota boys’ basketball team picked up right where they left off on Tuesday for the 2020-21 opener against English Valleys with the Eagles dishing out a 75-47 win.
Up 13-9 after one, the Eagles made their move in the second and third outscoring the Bears 44-21 in that timeframe to open up a 27-point lead and cruise the rest of the way. Keota shot 53% from the floor and were led by senior Carson Sprouse with 22 points and three steals. Brady Duwa had a big floor game with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. Bryce Greiner and Luke Hammen also tallied double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Keota starts up the campaign 1-0 and they get back at it tonight at Belle Plaine (0-2). Both teams tied a top of the South Iowa Cedar League East division standings last year with the Plainsmen winning the only meeting 72-66.
