Two holiday lighting contests being hosted by the Washington Chamber of Commerce are officially underway, with residents encouraged to make their own tour around town and vote for their favorite displays.

The “Window Wonderland” contest for businesses and “Get Lit” contest for residences run from now through January 4th, and the public can pick up a free map for the Window Wonderland at participating businesses or the Chamber office and purchase a Get Lit map and business coupon book for $10 at the Chamber as well. Chamber Event Coordinator Alisha Davis shares where the $10 goes, “The proceeds go to fund the lighting around the square, our holiday lights. So if you haven’t seen it, it looks amazing like it does every year. I mean it just really makes it feel like Christmas and the holidays when you drive around our downtown, and we’ve extended the lighting so we’re trying to make it even more inclusive of our downtown area and surrounding area.”

Voting lasts until January 4th, and Davis says you can send your vote for your favorite business and home displays at windowwonderlandvote@gmail.com or by casting your vote in a special Christmas mailbox outside the Chamber office at 205 West Main Street. The Window Wonderland winner will receive a “Holiday Party in a Box,” while the first place Get Lit winner will receive a $500 window and gutter cleaning package from Paneless Window Cleaning, LLC., with prizes for second and third place as well.
