In the win over the Wildcats, the Falcons were led by Emmanuel Walker’s 23 points. On the season Walker’s 20 points per game leads the way. Dawson Wehrle is the team leader with three assists per game and he and Ty Northup each pull down a team best seven rebounds per contest. This week, Hillcrest head coach Dwight Gingerich talked about the improvement he has seen in his team in the early going. “I feel like we have a team that’s pretty smart. Good basketball IQ. They absorb information and are able to switch things up. There are still too many holes right now to do a lot of those things. I’m most excited by their willingness to play hard and do the intangible things. Dive for loose balls, draw charges and making the extra pass. I think whenever that happens you have a chance to build a sense of team that feels good.”
The Ravens swept the series from the Falcons last year, winning 64-43 in Letts and 60-39 in Kalona. Overall, the Ravens have won eight straight between the two schools. Action begins tonight at six at Hillcrest Academy.
