After a postponement due to the state public health emergency, the YMCA of Washington County has reconfigured and expanded their annual Children’s Christmas Bazaar to limit COVID-19 exposure.
This event will be held for the first time at the new Washington YMCA building from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, December 19th where children 12 years old and younger can purchase up to 10 gift items and have them wrapped and tagged by the event’s volunteer elves. Marketing and Fundraising Director Angie Goodwin says that all children must now preregister for a 30 minute time slot to shop for presents for their loved ones, and only one parent or guardian will be allowed to attend per family, “Another thing that we have implemented is that everyone must wear masks. We do realize that for children two and under that may be a little bit difficult to keep masks on them so we are having all our volunteers that are volunteering as elves, they will be wearing masks.”
Masks will be available for those who don’t have one. All items are marked from $.50 to $5, and Goodwin says there are currently more time slots available in the afternoon. To preregister, contact the Y at 319-653-2141.
