The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team hosted a girls and junior varsity invitational Monday night at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Sarah Meader led the way for the Mid-Prairie girls, taking home the championship at the 160-170lb division, beating Virginia Cacho of Muscatine by 9-5 decision to secure the title. Other top finishes for the Golden Hawk girls included Madison Kelly as runner-up at 143-156, and Bronwyn Brenneman third at 119-120. The Golden Hawk junior varsity ranks had three champions with Owen Trimpe topping the podium in the 143-157lb division, beating Lincoln Hanson of Washington by 6-0 decision in the title match. Terry Bordenave was a champ at 218-232 with a fall over Dalton Soper of Anamosa in the championship round and Michael Kelly got gold at 285 with a win over teammate Brodey Neal by fall. Other top finishes for the Hawks included Dalton Miller runner-up at 113, Evan Phillips runner-up at 138-145, Jarron Thomas runner-up at 160-163, Duncan McCain runner-up 195-212, Brodey Neal runner-up at 285, Spencer Grout third at 132, Mitchell Martinez third at 249-285, and Gibson Lowenberg third at 285.

The Washington Demons were also in Wellman on Monday. Washington was led by two champions with Jacob Miller getting the title at 143-149 by fall over Cody McDonald of Wilton. Jacob Hill also topped the podium for the Demons at 177-182, beating Kyle Goodell of Williamsburg by fall. Other top finishes for the Demons included Chase Greiner runner-up at 160-168, Jack Kleese third 106-113, Lane Schrock third 117-122, and Curtis Stender third 195-212.
