In an email release from Mid-Prairie Athletic Director Tyler Hotz Thursday morning, the district announced it will be postponing all boys basketball competitions between December 16th and winter break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The communication sites the “number of positive cases and quarantines” within the program. The release goes on to state that the intention of the district is to reschedule as many of the missed games as possible after the holidays with those contests against teams from the south division of the River Valley Conference receiving top priority. Hotz also says that their goal is play the girls games as they are scheduled and they are working with the other districts involved to determine times for those games.
This announcement effects boys games scheduled on Friday, December 18th in Wellman against Cascade, Saturday, December 19th at Monticello, Monday, December 21st at West Liberty and Tuesday, December 22nd in Wellman against Northeast Goose Lake. KCII’s next broadcast of Mid-Prairie basketball will now be a girls only game Saturday at Monticello when the Golden Hawks meet the Panthers with a 3p.m. Washington HyVee pregame show and a 3:30 tip off.
